Monarch Brushes
A professional quality, synthetic bristle brush. Winsor and Newton’s Monarch brush mimics the look and feel of natural mongoose hair (now an endangered species). Designed for use with oil colour, it is made from polyester filaments and provides a stiffer alternative to sable but is softer than hog bristle. This unique synthetic fiber is so much like mongoose, it even has the tapered point and surface texture of the natural hair.
This brush is excellent for subtle blending, glazing and fine detail work. As a synthetic brush, Monarch is more durable than natural hair and has excellent spring. This makes it ideal for moving heavy bodied oil colour as well as being less prone to damage from solvents or paint.
Each brush is elegantly crafted with a gold ferrule, and a dark, brown-stained lacquered handle. The bristles are handsomely variegated in shades of ivory, gold, and brown.
