Originally formulated in 1910 as Pigment Yellow 1, Hansa Yellow is a foundational monoazo pigment that completely reshaped the modern palette. Over a century of continuous chemical refinement has yielded a contemporary synthetic-organic pigment that vastly outperforms its historical predecessors. Today, it serves as the premier ecological and non-toxic replacement for heavy, lead-based Chrome Yellows.
