Enkaustikos Damar Resin increases beeswax’s shine, hardness, translucency, and melting point. Damar resin (gum) comes from tree sap, similar to tapping maple trees for syrup, and does not damage the tree. As the tree sap dries, it may capture insects, leaves, and bark. If you buy this Damar Resin, these impurities will need to be removed to make a usable product. Unlike Damar varnish, Enkaustikos Damar Resin is a safe product. The FDA has approved the use of damar resin to coat boxes carting fruits and vegetables.
