Made from 80% calcium carbonate, Mineral Paper provides a unique surface for dry and wet media. Because the paper is bonded with a small amount of HDPE (plastic), it is tear-resistant, foldable, non-wrinkling, and will not allow color-bleed through even when soaked. Mineral Paper has a smooth, vellum-like velvety feel and a nice amount of tooth for wet and dry media.
Mineral Paper Art Boards are made with 100 lb (150 gsm) Mineral Paper, mounted to a hard backing board to provide a unique, sturdy substrate that will not stretch, tear, or warp. Excellent for silverpoint, alcohol ink painting, watercolor, acrylic, and more.
Silverpoint is a drawing medium that Medieval scribes and artists used to create manuscripts and renderings on gesso-prepared surfaces. Mineral Paper accepts silverpoint without needing gesso, making it a convenient surface for silverpoint.
